Dry Branch Fire Squad - guestbook

First encounter with BDFS was in 1980, maybe 1981 or maybe 1979 too, at Bershire Mountain Bluegrass Festival in New York State. I thought you were the most REAL sounding performers there. Don't ask me what REAL means because I can't answer that. But I don't have to; it's just the way you sounded to me, even bought one of your albums then (so I guess that explains that). It is possible that I may someday hear you again, if destiny will have it in store for me.

Glad to see that the Newburyport CD(s) finally came out. The people at Rounder were getting tired of my inquiries (Bill Evans might have been tired of hearing from me too). At the performance I attended, the squad performed, "Someone You Know" -- a song I heard them play at Greyfox four or five years ago. Terrific song and a terrific performance of it. I was looking foward to its inclusion in the "Firehouse" CD. They also performed an incredible version of "Seven Spanish Angels"(and told a little of the history behind the song), which I also hoped would be included on this CD. Oh well. If the Squad doesn't mind, and if someone has taped any of their live shows, I'd sure like to obtain copies of those songs. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining (the thought-repellant hat I'm wearing may be interfering with my communication skills); it's another great CD. Keep up the terrific work! My kids are now fans too.

Ron -- the last time I entered something into this guestbook the whole system crashed and everything was lost -- I hope this entry doesn't cause something similar to happen.

If you're not too busy cowboyin', have your agent check out the Prairie Home Companion radio show here in Saint Paul, MN. Your gang would be a big hit on this show. You and Garrison Keillor would hit it off -- you both can turn an idea into something quite funny.

DBFS is most definetly my favorite BG group. Won't be able to make Hay Fever this year, but made the first two. Caught a glimpse of Ron yesterday at Swallow Hill. Glad to see the group will be in Salida and will catch that gig. Ron needs to do add another 'ham bone' performance each time, once is not enough.

Have just played "live at Newburyport"for the umpteenth time and all I can say is that this album just gets better with the playing and in the process have converted a few friends to the pleasures of bluegrass music. As you would understand we get little or no bluegrass played on radio in Australia so my growing collection of Dry Branch CDs is played a lot, keep up the good work and I eagerly await your next offering

We love your music. Even our lab puppy "Maizy" enjoys it because she lays by the CD player when it is on. Looking forward to seeing you in Gettysburg again. We can't wait to get the latest CD.
