Thank you for the courage of this declaration. We've always admired your music and, reading this, we came to admire even more your core and well-lived humanity. This society needs more leaders like you. And music can make a difference. See you in Westcliffe and also (we hope) in Virginia.

thanks for your very timely rant. This was a good example from your experience, but surely every one of us has our own every day even if we're not tuned in at the time to see it. I'm glad you signed up with them again, I can hardly think of an organization that doesn't need help from everyone! Can't wait to hear the new voices!!

I respect your "rant" wish there were more conservatives like you. Maybe then I could be one

Admin reply: The one thing that has stood out to me lately is that there is no party for us conservatives to be a part of; I have noticed that most that I know are all now Democrats or Independents. As I said in the rant: Hate is not a conservative value.

It was during a working visit to the US during 1999 that I attended a Bluegrass festival at the National Horse Park camping ground near Lexington Kentucky. It was there I was exposed to traditional bluegrass music which was as far from my experience as you could get as a piano player in rock and pop music in Australia. It was there I got to know Mary Jo and Charlie Leet who were then members of the Dry Branch Fire Squad. I corresponded with them for a long time but not so much lately which I should rectify. I wish you every success and enjoyment playing the music you love. "LIVE AT LAST " is still one of the most played at our home.

Just got Ron's latest rant -- he has hit the nail right on the head -- again. It was great, just like his music. His stories are pretty good too.

Ron,

Thank you for your rant. It is one I have been spouting for most of my life, toward a more generalized audience. I have been known to cull the herd, removing the bigots on a regular basis. Many of my childhood friends have been cut from my circle, including one spouse. Keep on keeping on.

p.s.
You didn't warn me there would be a test to post here. I had no chance to study for it.

Admin reply: I would've warned you if I'd known. I'll have to contact someone who knows about such computer things to find out what it is. Till then I'll try to find out the average annual rainfall for the Amazon River basis--and hope that's one of the questions. rt

Miss seeing you guys at the Huck Finn Festivals in California. Always enjoyed your performances. Unfortunately Bluegrass is not a high priority here in Nevada. Will watch your schedule and try to get to the closest one. Keep up the good work in Bluegrass music.

Dear Ron,
It takes courage (and stamina) to express your anti-bigotry stance in a time of polarization and anger. You probably think of yourself as an old coot, but at age 82 I outrank you in the coot scale. I am a c minus mandolinist, having been given a potato bug at age 19 (when people politely asked, What is that instrument?) Just as many people now recognize a mandolin, so have the years seen so many incredible changes for the better since the sundown laws of your boyhood. I support your optimism, but it can't be easy. Nothing is.
I hope you will return to Frisco, rants and all, as often as possible.
Yours truly,
Lynn
